Sorry to hear about your ban. But as you stated in your post you participated in boosting (regardless of the reason) which violates the Security & Enforcement Policy. Please be sure to carefully review the policy to avoid any future infractions.  Best recommendation would be to allow your friend to earn back the items legitimately he lost due to his ban and play the game as intended.
