Felix Hernandez? Justin Verlander? If I was starting a team id take those two over any NL pitcher. On top of that the pitcher stats don't include Clay Buchholz (11-0 sub 2 ERA and hasn't pitched since June) and Matt Moore (14-3 2ish ERA) because both have been injured and don't qualify in terms of innings pitched.

On AL versus NL, the better hitters obviously reside in the AL. On top of that the DH is only in the AL. The pitcher hitting is a huge benefit for NL pitchers. They're the CoD equivalent of an AFK player and are basically a free out every time through the order.

As far as AL versus NL hitting stats wise, I'm not sure where your looking but the AL dominates.

9 of the top 10 teams in Runs Scored are AL teams (STL at #3 being the NL representative)

8 of the top 10 teams in Batting Average are AL teams (STL #3 and LAD #4)

6 of the top 10 teams in OBP are AL teams (STL #3 LAD #6 CIN #7 ATL #10)

7 of the top 10 teams in SLG % (basically bases per AB) are AL teams

Feel free to sort through the rest and you'll see a clear pattern. The AL is a dominant hitting league, thus making pitching in the NL easier. Rarely do you see a pitcher go from the AL to the NL and struggle, but it's pretty regular for a pitcher to go from the NL to the AL and struggle (See Ryan Dempster).
